SHOW ME TELL ME QUESTIONS
Mini me driving school has all the show me tell me questions for you to learn in readiness for your driving test.
This includes the show me tell me questions as they currently stand and the show me tell me questions that will supersede them come the 4th of December 2017. Furthermore, If any of our pupils need help with the questions we will be all to glad to assist. So, you will be asked 1 show me question and one tell me question which are currently asked before you drive off on the test. So, the new test schedule from the 4th of December will require one tell me question asked before the drive and one show me question during the drive. All the information is below in our toggle text blocks.

Q. Show me how you check that the direction indicators are working correctly
A. Switch on the hazard warning lights and walk around the vehicle to check all are flashing. Also, Ignition may need to be switched on, but not starting the engine.
Q. Show me how to check the brakes are working correctly.
A. press the brake pedal and check for reflections in garage doors or windows. Alternatively, ask someone to help. Also, Ignition may need to be switched on, but not starting the engine.
Q. Show me or explain how you check that the powered assisted steering is working before starting a journey.
A. If steering is heavy the system may not be working correctly, check by applying gentle pressure on the wheel as the engine is started. Steering should feel lighter. Or, turn the wheel after moving off and steering should be easy and light.
Q. Show me how to check the parking brake (handbrake) for excessive wear.
A. Press the footbrake then release handbrake and then re apply, as it holds the car still it should not travel too high on its working travel
Q. Show me how to check the horn works correctly.
A. press the horn once. Switch ignition on if it is needed.
Q. Show me how to wash the windscreen using windscreen wash and wipers.
A. Operate washer jets to spray windscreen, wipers should automatically wipe as you do so. Switch ignition on if needed.
Q. Show me how to switch on the rear fog lights and explain when to use them. Do not visually check behind the vehicle.
A. Switch on fog lights, you may need to have dipped headlights for them to be used. Point out the warning light for them illuminates on the dashboard then explain when to use them.
Q. Show me how to switch the headlights from dipped to main beam and explain how you know they are on.
A. Switch on the main beam and check warning light illuminates. Switch ignition on if needed.
Q. Show me how to set the demister controls (fan airflow) to clear all windows effectively.
A. Set the controls including the fans, air direction, temperature and heated rear screen switch to clear all windows. Do not start the engine to demonstrate.
TELL ME QUESTIONS
Q. Tell me how to check the brakes work before a journey.
A. The brakes should not be spongy or slack. The car should not pull to one side as they are tested when driving off.
Q. Tell me how to adjust the head restraint (head rest) correctly to provide protection in the event of a crash.
A. Adjust the head restraint so the middle rigid part is level with the eyes and ears.
Q. Tell me how to check headlights and tail lights are working. You do not need to exit the vehicle and check physically.
A. Operate the switch and explain that you would walk around and check all lights are working.
Q, tell me how to check if there is a problem with the anti-lock braking system.
A. A warning light will appear on the dashboard
Q, Tell me where to find tyre pressures recommended for the car and how you would check them.
A. In the manufacturer’s guide.Check tyres with a pressure gauge when tyres are cold, Also check the spare and refit valve caps.
Q. Tell me how you check the tyres that they have enough tread depth and also the general condition of the tyre.
A. At least 1.6 mm of tread depth across the top 3/4 of the tyre and no cuts or bulges in the sidewalls.
UNDER THE BONNET TELL ME QUESTIONS
Q. Open the bonnet, identify where to check engine oil level and how you check there is enough oil.
A. Point to the dipstick and explain you check against the minimum and maximum level. Check when the engine is cold.
Q. Open the bonnet, identify where you check the engine coolant level and tell me how to check for the correct level.
A. Point out the coolant tank and explain level should be between the minimum and maximum level.
Q. Open the bonnet, identify where the brake fluid reservoir is and explain how to check for a safe level.
A. Point to the reservoir and explain it should be between the minimum and maximum level.
Q. Open the bonnet and identify where the windscreen washer reservoir is and explain how to check the level.
A. Pont to the reservoir and explain it must have a suitable level and be kept topped up regularly.
SHOW ME TELL ME 4TH DECEMBER ONWARDS
SHOW ME QUESTIONS ( ON THE DRIVE)
One of the questions below will now be asked by the examiner during the drive on test.
1, When it is safe, show me how you wash the rear windscreen?
2, When it is safe, show me how you wash the front windscreen?
3, When it is safe, show me you switch on the dipped headlights?
4, When it is safe, show me how to set the rear demister?
5, When it is safe, show me how you sound the horn?
6, When it is safe, show me how to demist the front windscreen?
7, When it is safe, show me how to open and close the side window?
You would need to show that you can operate safely any one of the above in a safe manner whilst keeping in control of your vehicle on the drive.
